Library Sessions and Independent Study
Our dedicated Sixth Form Library is a purpose designed space where library sessions are timetabled and overseen by our Sixth Form Pastoral Manager. Situated at the heart of the Sixth Form, it provides a calm environment where students can read, research and immerse themselves in their learning. The space is equipped with specialist academic resources, up to date subject texts, university‑level reading, and high‑quality digital platforms, the library supports every pathway; from A Level and BTEC courses to EPQ and university preparation.
Independent Study
Independent study is a core part of Sixth Form success. At Eden Park students follow the 6/6 rule whereby they study for 6 '50-minute' periods outside of lessons for each subject they take. Some of these sessions are timetabled in the library while other are conducted in our separate study space, after school, or at home.
As students move beyond GCSEs, the level of challenge increases and so does the expectation that they take ownership of their learning. Structured, purposeful independent study allows students to consolidate classwork, deepen their understanding, and develop the academic habits that universities and employers value most.
