What is psychology?
Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. It explores how people think, feel, and act, both as individuals and within groups. Psychology aims to understand mental processes, emotional responses, and the ways we perceive and interact with the world.

Psychology at Orion Eden Park develops the soft and academic skills of our learners allowing them to enter into the next phase of their life with sound theoretical knowledge. A democratic approach to education is taken in this department in the pursuit of upskilling learners, aiding their accountability and integrity in relation to academic pursuits. A mix of academically rigorous and engaging activities aim to bring psychology from the theoretical to the physical, allowing student to gain experiences that would otherwise be restricted to work after undergraduate studies.

What is sociology?
Sociology is the study of human society, social relationships and institutions within it. Unifying the study of these diverse subjects of study is sociology's purpose - to understand how human action and thinking both shape and are shaped by surrounding cultural and social structures.

What is economics?
Economics is the study of how people, businesses, and governments make choices about using limited resources to meet their needs and wants. You will study Microeconomics which focuses on individuals, households, and businesses. You will also study Macroeconomics where you will look at the economy as a whole, for example: What causes inflation? Why does unemployment rise? How does a country grow? Economics is a dynamic ever changing subject that will help you understand decision making processes at all levels.

Digital it BTEC at KS4
The Pearson BTEC Level 2 Tech Award in Digital Information Technology (603/7050/6) is for learners who want to acquire sector-specific applied knowledge and skills through vocational contexts by studying project planning, data management, data interpretation, data presentation and data protection as part of their Key Stage 4 learning. The qualification recognises the value of learning skills, knowledge and vocational attributes to complement GCSEs. The qualification will broaden learners’ experience and understanding of the varied progression options available to them.
